Growing Tourist Industry
Brazil boasts Latin America’s second largest travel and tourism sector, and its tourism market is fast expanding. Brazil demonstrated strong performance in 2007 registering 7.2% growth in travel and tourism demand, according to the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC), and the country was recently ranked as the number one target holiday destination by Thomson Holidays.
The next 10 year forecast points to average growth of approximately 5.3% per year. As direct flights from European destinations increase – Trail Finders plan to offer Business Class trips to Brazil – Brazil’s travel and tourism sector is only set for further expansion.
New Airports
This will be supported by the completion of Natal’s São Gonçalo airport – to be the largest airport in South America - scheduled for 2010.
According to aviation industry figures, demand for flights to Brazil is increasing at a rapid rate and Airbus has predicted the need for more than 330 passenger aircraft, each with a capacity greater than 100, over the next 20 years to meet escalating demand.
